To fling far in Fling Things and People, grab a loose target, give it clearance, face an open landing direction, move it through a smooth camera arc, and use the throw action while it is traveling toward that direction. Add avatar movement only after the stationary release is consistent. The exact distance varies with object shape, collisions, server physics, and latency, so timing matters more than copying a claimed multiplier.

Prepare a repeatable throw

Choose open ground and one ordinary object. Avoid a Building Plot under construction, the train track, Poison Pit, map edge, and players who have not agreed to practice. Place the target on the same visible mark for each attempt. Using one object prevents mass and collision differences from hiding whether your timing improved.

On PC, confirm left click grabs, right click throws, and the mouse wheel changes distance. On mobile, identify grab, throw, and camera areas. Keep camera sensitivity at a comfortable value and close menus. Review PC Controls or Mobile Controls if drop and throw are not clearly separate.

Use the basic far-fling sequence

  1. Grab the target and hold it far enough away that it will not hit your avatar.
  2. Face the center of a clear landing zone.
  3. Move the camera through a moderate sideways or upward arc.
  4. Throw as the target crosses the intended direction.
  5. Stop changing the camera and watch the entire path.
  6. Reset the same target at the same starting mark.

The release point is the first variable to tune. If the target travels sideways, you probably released before or after it crossed the intended line. If it strikes the ground immediately, create more clearance or use a slightly upward arc. If it hits your avatar, increase held distance and reduce the size of the swing.

Do three attempts with the same arc. Change the release earlier or later by a small amount on the next three. A consistent medium throw teaches more than one huge result you cannot reproduce.

Add avatar movement

Once standing throws land in the same zone, walk backward or sideways during the setup to create additional target motion. Keep the camera arc unchanged. Release at the same visual point and compare the path. Community guides often describe backward movement and turning as distance tools, but combining both at maximum speed immediately makes the cause impossible to read.

Use terrain carefully. A gentle slope can change clearance or launch angle, while walls and low roofs can stop the target. Open flat ground is the correct place to learn; a map landmark is the place to apply the technique only after control is stable.

Do not treat violent camera shaking or “joint breaking” as a required method. It is unpredictable, can target players aggressively, and may depend on an older physics state. This guide focuses on ordinary, readable input.

Adapt the technique on mobile

Use a short camera swipe that starts away from action buttons. Grab first, then swipe toward the landing direction and tap the throw control at the end of the useful part of the arc. If your finger reaches the screen edge, lift and reset rather than dragging against the bezel.

Practice stationary throws before adding the virtual joystick. Touch input already combines aim and screen placement; adding movement too soon increases accidental button presses. If the held object fills the screen, move it farther away with the current distance control or use a smaller target.

Low frame rate makes timing inconsistent. Clear unused toys, leave a crowded area, or join a quieter server before changing the technique.

Compare results without inventing distance

Use landmarks rather than an unsupported stud measurement. Mark short, medium, and long landing bands with fixed scenery or friends standing safely to the side. Record whether the target stayed on direction, cleared the ground, and landed in the same band three times.

Compare one object only with itself. A pallet and a small toy can produce different paths under identical input. If you change object class, begin a new set of attempts instead of declaring one universally “better.”

Fix common misses

If the target goes behind you, reduce the camera arc and release earlier. If it falls near your feet, make sure you used throw rather than drop and that the object had started moving. If it veers into another prop, clear the path and repeat. If every attempt snaps or stalls, switch servers and treat latency as the condition.

If another player is the target, ask for consent and use a low-risk landing zone. Players can move, escape, or be affected by network corrections, so they are poor first targets for measuring technique.
